The American soldiers of the Vietnam War, often young, diverse, and inexperienced in war, were thrust into a complex and divisive conflict that tested their resilience and commitment. Issued with new, and sometimes even experimental weapons and equipment, these soldiers often had to think on their feet to help protect both their friends, squadmates, and their own lives. These young troops faced a challenging environment marked by guerrilla warfare, ambushes, harsh and unforgiving jungle terrain, and an elusive, deadly enemy. US Soldiers exhibited remarkable bravery in the face of danger, carrying out missions of all different types.
